The king of all Gods in Rome was Jupiter and his wife Juno who was the Goddess of Marriage and childbirth. Pluto was the God of the Underworld, Venus was the Goddess of Love, Neptune was the God of the Seas, and finally we came across the God of War, Mars. Did you notice that a lot of these Gods had planets named after them?

We are wrapping up our work with the World’s Fair. Below is information Ms. Kelly emailed to all of you that I wanted to pass along!
Take a trip around the world with us!
At the World’s Fair, representatives from countries in the mid 1900’s would come from all over to share about their Country’s greatness. Artwork, theatrical skits, inventions, and more were exhibited to all visitors. The Swiss once demonstrated a clock so accurate it detected inconsistencies in the movement of the earth. General Motors “World of Tomorrow” Pavilion was the most popular exhibit in 1965, where visitors sat in seats that moved through displays showing what the world would look like in 2024!
Over the course of the last few months, Kindergarten and Elementary students selected a country and began their research to prepare for our version of the World’s Fair. Many students, for the first time, learned how to collect data from various resources and how to put together a research paper from start to finish. Next, they prepared their visual aids for their “exhibit” and lastly will dress to represent their country with a prepared presentation for you!
You don’t want to miss out on this fun time! Be sure to invite family and friends to learn all about countries like Tanzania, Egypt, Greece, Spain, England and more!
In science class, Mr. John had us put an organge and a peeled orange into a tank of water. We noticed that the orange floated and the peeled orange sank! Mr. John told us that the reason the orange floated is because of the air trapped inside. Thank you for such a fun science class!

Science fun with water and oranges!! What will happen if we place an orange into the water in the tank? What will happen if we put a peeled orange into the water in the tank? Will they both sink? Will they float?
OH MY! The unpeeled orange floats and the peeled orange sinks! What??? This can’t be! Let’s try this again!
Trying it again! This time we tried to hold the unpeeled orange down for 10 seconds! Guess what?? It still floats! Why does this happen? The secret?? There is an air bubble in the unpeeled orange that allows it to float.
The past week we discussed how different foods and drinks can affect our dental hygiene. We learned that our teeth get sad and full of tooth decay from sweets and soda and get happy and shiny and bright from brushing and eating healthy foods. We also learned that every tooth has a specific job. The incisors are used for cutting food, the canines are used for tearing food and the molars are used for grinding food. We talked about the importance of constantly visiting a doctor to take care of our health in every way! For parents, we recommend clicking here to find a pediatric doctor who can monitor your child’s health!

Kindergarten: Telling time to the hour
The past week the kindergarten students have been learning how to tell time to the hour. They learned that the long hand is the minute hand and the short hand is the hour hand. They also learned that when the minute hand is pointing to the 12 it means zero minutes have past that hour and we can say it is __ o’clock.

Line Time: This week we went back in time and took a look at Ancient Greece and talked about Greek Mythology. The Greek Gods hung out on Mt. Olympus and we learned the King of all Gods was Zeus and if you made him angry he had a lightning bolt in his hand that he would throw at you. Zeus had a wife named Hera and she was the Goddess of Marriage. If you were a sailor you dare not make Poseidon angry because he was the the God of the Seas and held a trident (a fork like spear) in his hand. Zeus had a brother that he sent to the under world and that God was named Hades. Hades had a pet that was a three headed dog named Cerberus. We also learned about Pan and Medusa.
Did you know: Tigers have striped skin not just striped fur. The stripes are like fingerprints and no two tigers have the same pattern.
