Taekwondo Instructor | Absorbent Minds Montessori School
Master Barnick serves as the Taekwondo Instructor at Absorbent Minds Montessori School, offering kids Taekwondo in Stow, Ohio as part of the school’s enrichment program. A 4th Degree Black Belt with more than 20 years of teaching experience, he specializes in introducing young children to martial arts in an engaging and developmentally appropriate way. Through Taekwondo, Master Barnick helps AMMS students strengthen coordination, concentration, confidence, self-control, and respect while having fun and staying active.
Martial Arts Experience & Leadership
Master Barnick has studied martial arts since 1998 and holds a 4th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. He has taught Taekwondo through Asian Sun Martial Arts for more than 20 years and has extensive experience working specifically with young children.
Throughout his career, Master Barnick has helped many students progress through their martial arts training and earn Black Belts. He has also coached students who have gone on to become National Champions.
In addition to teaching, Master Barnick serves as the General Manager and Head Instructor at Asian Sun in Tallmadge, Ohio. His years of leadership and instruction have given him extensive experience helping children develop skills both on and off the mat.
Kids Taekwondo in Stow, Ohio
One of Master Barnick’s specialties is teaching martial arts to children between approximately 2½ and 5 years old. He understands that young children learn best when movement, repetition, encouragement, and fun are incorporated into the experience.
His lessons introduce foundational Taekwondo skills while helping children practice listening, following directions, body control, balance, and coordination.
Just as importantly, students begin learning that progress comes through practice and perseverance. Master Barnick creates an environment where children can experience success while continuing to challenge themselves and develop new skills.
Building Confidence, Focus & Self-Control
Taekwondo provides children with opportunities to strengthen much more than physical skills. Through martial arts instruction, students practice concentration, patience, self-discipline, respect, and perseverance.
These skills complement many of the qualities encouraged within the Montessori classroom. Children learn to control their movements, listen carefully, follow a sequence of directions, practice until they improve, and take pride in accomplishing something independently.
Master Barnick especially enjoys helping young children experience the confidence that comes from discovering what their bodies and minds are capable of doing.
Taekwondo at Absorbent Minds
Master Barnick has brought the Asian Sun Taekwondo program to Absorbent Minds Montessori School for many years. His energetic teaching style and ability to connect with young children make martial arts an engaging part of the enrichment opportunities available to AMMS students.
Through movement, skill development, and plenty of practice, students have the opportunity to build physical abilities while strengthening important qualities that can carry into the classroom and everyday life.
