Science Instructor & Instructional Support | Absorbent Minds Montessori School
John Kotradi serves as the Science Instructor and provides instructional support at Absorbent Minds Montessori School in Stow, Ohio. As an experienced Montessori science teacher in Stow, Ohio, John brings nearly two decades of Montessori education and classroom experience to his current role. After many years leading a Primary classroom, he now shares his experience across the school while bringing hands-on science exploration to AMMS students.
Montessori Education & Nearly Two Decades at AMMS
John holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Ecology from The Ohio State University and an American Montessori Society (AMS) Primary Montessori credential for preschool and kindergarten. He completed his Montessori training through the Midwest Montessori Teacher Training Center in Evanston, Illinois.
John’s introduction to Montessori education began as a parent when his own children entered Montessori school. Over time, he watched them grow and thrive in the environment. As a result, he became increasingly drawn to the Montessori philosophy and eventually became a Montessori educator himself.
For nearly 20 years, John has been an important part of the Absorbent Minds Montessori School community. He spent many of those years serving as a Primary classroom Director, guiding young children through some of their most formative years. His extensive classroom experience now allows him to support AMMS students and teachers in a broader instructional role.
Montessori Science & Hands-On Discovery
Science has long been one of John’s favorite areas to share with students. As AMMS’s Science Instructor, he brings hands-on exploration, experimentation, and discovery into the learning experience.
One of John’s favorite parts of teaching science is watching children form their own hypotheses. Then, they explore those ideas through hands-on experimentation. Rather than simply giving students answers, he enjoys creating opportunities for them to wonder, investigate, make observations, and discover answers for themselves.
This approach fits naturally within Montessori education, where curiosity and purposeful exploration are important parts of learning.
Supporting Independence & the Montessori Classroom
Throughout his years as a Montessori educator, John has valued the independence and self-reliance children develop within a thoughtfully prepared environment. He believes Montessori education gives children meaningful opportunities to take responsibility, solve problems, and become contributing members of their classroom community.
Today, John draws on nearly two decades of classroom experience in his instructional support role. His familiarity with AMMS, its students, and the Montessori method allows him to be a valuable resource throughout the school.
John resides in Cuyahoga Falls and remains a proud Ohio State Buckeye. O-H!
